Harold's Place is a converted barn with easy access to all the Normandie tourist destinations.
It is situated 1 1/2 miles from St Clair sur Elle a good sized and well served village. St Lo is 8 km away with Bars shops restaurants art gallery and a cathedral with a brass shell still stuck in the wall. St Lo has one of the best French markets on Saturday in Normandie
The beaches are 25 minute drive, the closest being Omaha.

There is free broadband Wifi throughout.

It comprises of lounge/diner, kitchen, shower room 2 bedrooms and private garden. All furnished in tradional style with paintings and pottery to make it homely. We have tried to make it as inviting as if we were going to stay there.

All rooms have electric heaters for those chillier evenings.

There are 2 double bedrooms, both have original French beds and their own W.C....

On arrival we should have known what to expect from the broken and rusty outdoor furniture, I would have beem to embarrsed to let friends and family sit on them let alone paying guests. It was clear on entering, the property hadn't been cleaned properly....More

Oh dear! what a disappointing review. I can assure you Suzanne that everywhere is cleaned thoroughly before we let our cosy gite to guests. The oven may not be new but it is cleaned every time we have a change over. As to cobwebs they...More

About the neighbourhood
Our Village is St Clair sur Elle and has grown since the war into a large village with everything you need. It takes 25minutes to walk there.
Through the village and down a single cart track is a walk that takes you to the 'fountain'. Go down the wooden steps and find the little shrine where the waters are supposed to have healing powers for eye problems. Whether you have occular trouble or not it is a lovely walk.
There are a couple of monuments dedicated to the fallen and wounded soldiers around St Clair. Take time to read the stories on the plaques at the monument just north of the village en route to St Margarite. Then if you want a real traditional French workers lunch carry on to the Vallee bar and have a Plat du Jour, 3 courses including wine and cider for €11.00.
