Games and puzzles are also in the Guest House including our 'Take one, Leave one' book case holding an eclectic selection of books. Normally we rent the entire unit, it can easily handle up to 6. However, when we have availability we do rent the bedrooms separately and the kitchen and lounge area are shared. There IS plenty of room. A working trout farm, there is an U- Fish on property and Speckled or Rainbow trout may be caught. The Margaree is world famous for Salmon fishing, (fly fishing only in summer!), however trout abound and many choose to try their luck on the 'Brookies'. Guides are not required but suggested and can be arranged. Previous to this incarnation, for 16 years we ran this property as a four star, Canada Select B&B and your hosts are very familiar with the area with a vast knowledge of things to do, what to see, restaurants, dances etc. Music, particularly Celtic style music, is very much a part of Cape Breton culture and, during the summer, there is never a day without a Ceilidh, dance or concert somewhere in the area. You will want to attend at least one of these! Once you do, you likely will wish to go to more! No matter where you stay on this Blessed Isle, we know you will love Cape Breton Island in general, and 'The Margarees' in particular! You will come as visitors and leave as friends! More

It has been MANY years since we were here but I have such fond memories. We loved having breakfast with Pat & her husband. My husband enjoyed the fishing. I'm sorry to hear Pat is retired but I'm sure retirement is well deserved. I remember...More

About the neighbourhood
Margaree Forks is where the N.E. and the S.W. Margaree join to flow into the Gulf of St. Lawwrence, 16 km to the north. The NE Margaree is a world famous Salmon fishing river and fly fishermen congregate there through the summer and fall in an attempt to catch this King of Fishes. The Valley itself is an attraction with farms and fields nestling between the mountains at the edge of the Highlands. There are four ocean beaches within a short drive of the farm as well as numerous swimming holes along the river. For the duffers, Cabot Links and Cabot Trail are within 25 kms, La Portage is only 40 km away in Cheticamp and Bell bay, (Baddeck), is about 50 km. The Margaree is an excellent base for day tripping all the Island attractions!
