Cottage
We are in a quiet village location surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the River Trent. Stable Cottage was originally a block of 3 stables that has been converted into a beautiful 2 bedroom holiday cottage. It's interior has a vintage / shabby chic look and is light and spacious. There is a 'secret garden' for your sole use during your stay which is perfect for al fresco dining. There is off road parking just outside the cottage. Open the patio doors in the kitchen and again, you have your own private space for dining or a chilled glass of wine! There are 2 bedrooms (one double and one single). Heating is by thermostatically controlled radiators in each room. The lounge is spacious and light, the cupboard under the TV/DVD has a selection of books and games for you to us...We are in a quiet village location surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the River Trent. You will find the kitchen fully equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine for your convenience, no washing up by hand necessary during your holiday! Our house is opposite the cottage and we will be available should you have any queries or need to know anything about getting out and about during your stay. Our hens can be seen wandering round in their secure pen now as Mr and Mrs Fox decided they wanted lots of chicken for their dinner! If you are lucky, 'our girls' may lay some lovely fresh eggs for your breakfast! Please note, we have upgraded out internet to BT Fibreoptic but the service is not good at present. We are trying to resolve this with BT. Please consider that wifi may not be good / available during your stay.More

We have just had a short stay at stables cottage in Laneham a beautuful place. Plenty of room and Debbie and Simon have have thought of everything you need for a enjoyable stay even fresh chicken eggs❤️ The garden was so well kept and our little miniture schnauzer loved running about in it. The cottage was so clean and tidy it still has the original beams which makes a quint little cottage. Debbie and Simon also going the extra mile for your protection providing hand sanitizer, cleaning essentials and there own soecial little touches. There are two lovely pub both within walking distance very friendly staff and dogs welcome. Serving good selection of food. The Bees Knees which is a two minute walk from the cottage serves a brilliant variety of Gins and good selection of real beers. There are many nature walks around Laneham and you are just a shorr drive from Retford a historic town where you find supermarkets and other retail shops or a 30 minutes drive will take you to centre of lincoln. All in all we had a wonderful break and would highly recommend the cottage we are planning to return in.near future.

Stayed here for a couple of nights just for a Uk mini break. Had never been to the area before but was keen to just unwind and relax with my husband and son. We were not disappointed. Debbie and Simon are brilliant hosts and the stable barn was just perfect. Big enough for the 3 of us but really cosy inside. It had everything we needed with some lovely touches of essential items in the fridge for us too along with a nice bottle of white! They were on hand if we needed anything and have great ideas on where to go. The area is great for just exploring lovely local villages and 2 very nice pubs just down the road. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend.

We had been to Cornwall for the last two years in September but thought we would try something different in 2019. The accommodation was just right for us and our little dog and Simon was very welcoming. The facilities were excellent and location perfect being in a quiet village but within 200 yards of a lovely, dog friendly pub! We were able to easily get everywhere we wanted to go from our base and we visited Sheffield, Sherwood Forest, Lincoln as well as the local parks and nature reserves. A lovely break.

Very comfortable, clean accommodation with all that is required for a short stay or longer. Owners friendly and helpful. Enjoyed meeting Leo, the family dog, and the quiet chickens and geese. Is a two minute stroll from the local pub for good food, ales and gins. Easy driving distance to Lincoln and other local attractions.

One of the best stays we have had since ages. Right from the day we booked the property till we drove out of the gate it was a wonderful experience. Simon was very kind enough to give us complimentaries such as cereals, milk, eggs, crumpets, chocolate for the little one and lots of tea bags and sugar. Thanks Simon. The property is very homely on the inside and equally refreshing on the outside. We had the entire garden for our own use. Our 2 yr old was excited with the trampoline, football, and of course chickens and the sheep. The garden is beautifully maintained and so is the house. The house is a old stable with wooden beams but modernized to a high standard. We also had lots of toys for the little one to play with. The pub visit on a Saturday evening was a welcome bonus. Sundown adventure park is nearby and the whole area is so tranquil. Best 2 nights of sleep in a year for all of us. A perfect village getaway. Am looking forward for our next visit. Thanks Simon.

Have just returned from a three night stay at Stable Cottage. Simon and Debbie were friendly from the moment I booked online to the moment we left the cottage. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. The cottage was immaculately clean and the garden is lovely. There were enough extras for anyone's immediate needs; tea, coffee, milk, butter, rolls, cereal and even a bottle of wine. The cottage is well equipped and although we were just two adults and a dog, there were plenty of toys and games to keep children happy. Thank you Simon and Debbie, we really enjoyed our stay.

We had an excellent break in this beautiful house. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and really went the extra mile. Our toddler was so excited to have his own "special" chair (high chair) and a bed just for him. The house was a safe space for him to explore and play especially as there are no stairs to worry about. The garden was a real bonus too for him to run about. The house was very well equipped with so many thoughtful touches provided so we also really enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing break. We would recommend this for adults or families alike. Lovely location and lovely owners who couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Already planning our next visit!

A peaceful single storey cottage set back from the quiet road with its own garden behind. We stayed for 2 nights while attending Osberton Horse Trials nearby, the owners were actually away but were very helpful beforehand and Granny who was house sitting was very welcoming and kind. Nice roomy kitchen and living area.

About the neighbourhood
What's on and where to go? A car is necessary to make the most of exploring this area. Some of the great places you can visit are Sherwood Forest and Major Oak, Creswell Crags, Vulcan XH558 (at Robin Hood Doncaster Airport) and during display season, you may be lucky enough to see her fly right over the cottage!, If you like antiques and collectables, there is a very popular car boot at Torksey every Wednesday and Saturday which starts at 12noon, no early start for that one! In the summer months, there are car boot sales on alternate Sunday mornings at Harby and North Scarle, definitely worth a visit. Newark Showground is the location of the International Antiques and Collectors Fairs and Lincoln also hosts Antiques Fairs throughout the year. For those with an interest in historic bui...
