WHEELER RIVER LODGE is a hunting and fishing lodge in remote, northern Saskatchewan. We are not accessible by road so must board a float plane from Otter Lake, Saskatchewan to get to our lodge. We are the only lodge within 40 miles. Once in camp, it becomes your own retreat. We send in only one group at a time so you will not have to share the area with anyone.
For a remote experience like no other with fishing comparable to like it was in the “old days”, give Wheeler River Lodge a call. It could be the best call you’ve made all year!

Perfect fishing vacation
Excellent accommodations with new larger refrigerator and ice machine since our last visit. Portages much easier with gas powered mule. Great hosts to share memories and lots of laughter

Awesome Saskatchewan fishing
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd stay at Wheeler River. The fishing was steady, lots of pike and walleye. Boats and gear worked great. We stayed at the cabin w/ a 4 x father-son group, rustic and clean well equipped accommodation.
And the hosts Kevin and Cheryl are fantastic. Kevin’s shore lunches are enough to keep us coming back.

Wonderful trip
This was our second trip to Wheeler River. It was even better than last year. Kevin and Cheryl might be the nicest people you will ever meet. Fishing was great and can’t wait to go back again.

Incredible Experience
The experience is second to none because of the camp hosts. Northern Saskatchewan has massive and plentiful fish that any guide can put you on, but on at Wheeler River Lodge will you get Kevin and Cheryl. They are accommodating, knowledgeable and flexible to the needs of your group. Highly recommend!

Big Slice Of Heaven!!
This was my 25 year @ the Wheeler, it is the best fishing spot in the world, it has the best host Cheryl & Kevin . This year I brought 3 new fisherman with me. They caught the biggest & most fish of their life. The biggest was caught by my brother in law , is was a 43 inch pike. Big slice of heaven right here on earth. See you next year & as long as I can, BUTTE BOYS!!!

Great Hunting/Fishing with Phenomenal Host!!!
This was my 2nd trip up to Wheeler River Lodge and it was just as amazing as the first. I've been to Canada many times and the fishing for pike and walleye doesn't get any better! Not to mention the possibility of fishing for Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling make for a fun addition. The bear hunting was great too as we went 3/4 and 2 of them were very large bears. Skull will probably measure out in the high "teens".
Kevin and Cheryl run a first class camp. They go the extra mile to make sure that all of your needs are met. They are great salt-of-the-earth people! I'd highly recommend them and their camp if your looking for some great backwoods hunting and fishing!

Epic Family Fishing Adventure
We spent five days fishing at Wheeler River Lodge in July 2022. We were four adults with four teenagers, and there was truly something for everyone. Kevin and Cheryl were so welcoming and hospitable to us, and Kevin is an amazing fishing guide. We fished the river system and numerous lakes in the area. Each day was a new adventure traveling by boat, then portaging a short distance to another body of water with a different set of boats ready and waiting to be started up and take us to a new area to fish. The shore lunches were a real highlight - Kevin is an excellent cook! Each day was a unique adventure. The cabin we stayed in was very comfortable. The kids enjoyed swimming in the lake and we enjoyed sitting on the deck or having a fire on the beach. This was the perfect opportunity for our family to "unplug" and reconnect with one another. I would highly recommend this as a very special family vacation.

Great Adventure in Canada’s North
Amazing fishing, accommodations and hospitality from Kevin and Cheryl. Never need to fish the same area twice, but hard to avoid since some of the spots are that good!

Fishing Adventure in the Canadian North
We had a super adventure fishing as two families with teenage kids at the Wheeler River Lodge. There are so many lakes and the river system to explore up at Wheeler. While fishing off the dock and in the river system right outside the lodge is great, Kevin and Cheryl have additional boats parked at lakes you would never be able to access just short traverses away. We caught fish that I'm sure have never seen boats or lures before. Lodgings are clean and well-appointed. Bring your favorite sides and fixings, and Kevin will cook up a terrific shore lunch. Fun stories and memories were made by all, and Cheryl and Kevin are terrific hosts! We all loved our adventure in the Canadian north!

Wheeler River Lodge
This was our 3rd year back to wheeler river lodge. Kevin and Cheryl run a tight ship. Great hospitality and accommodations, we caught numerous fish and all different species. We will be back again next year.

Situated on the Wheeler River in beautiful Northern Saskatchewan, we are a 135 mile flight north from the float plane base at Otter Lake. Our camp is extremely quiet and isolated with no other camps in the area. The lakes are beautiful with ample sandy beaches and clear, clean water. Whether fishing (Northern Pike, Walleye, Grayling, Lake Trout and Whitefish), hunting (bear or moose) or enjoying a family get-away, you will find the natural amenities that only Northern Saskatchewan can offer are unbeatable! We have operated as a catch and release fishing camp since we opened in 1988 but welcome you to eat fish while in camp. Because of this low fishing pressure, fishing remains as it has always been – outstanding!
Five- (5) day light housekeeping plan: Caretaker and guide on site. Your group of 4 to 10 people has the entire area as your own. Relax in comfort in our modern wilderness hunting and fishing lodge. Whether you are a die-hard fisherman or looking for the perfect family holiday, you will love the pristine waters, sandy beaches, native plants and abundant wildlife.
