A wonderful, homely cottage with amazing views across to the Northumberland coast. The welcome basket of essentials was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. The cottage was immaculate and incredibly comfortable, we slept really well all week. Derek and Trish were lovely hosts and we would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family.

Everything you need, great cottage with lovely people and views with the sea in the distance. All the equipment you need for self catering. Did a lot of driving but loads to see including Cragside which is close by. Also Alnwick castle and gardens, get a joint ticket for both its cheaper. The places to drive and see are Bamburgh castle and Seahouses for great fish and chips. Then its Hadrians wall took us 2 days but well worth the effort

This was our second stay in Tawny Nook. It feels like coming home. Everything is just perfect. There is lots to do in the surrounding area whatever the weather. Can't wait to go back!

This is our third visit to this idyllic location. The cottage is very well equipped, and meticulously maintained by the owners. However it is the location that is the star here - the peace and quiet is amazing, and being so far from any light pollution gives amazing star gazing opportunities. You could spend a week here just enjoying the wildlife - the owners actively encourage nesting birds for instance. That said however, you can be in the national park in under half an hour. Alnwick and Morpeth are even nearer, along with Rothbury. This year we ventured further afield to both Berwick and Beamish - both take about an hour to travel to. We won't consider anywhere else for our fortnight's holiday next year - it's like a 'home from home' due to the comfort and the welcome.

Just had a easter break. Not the best weather but as the location and cottage was perfect we could not off asked for more. Great location and everything near enough. Children enjoyed castles and beach. Owners lovely and helpful if needed. Will definitely go back.

This is the perfect place to escape from the bustle and noise of city life. There are great views over open fields to the coast, you are ideally situated to explore the wild and beautiful countryside and only a short drive away from the lovely Northumbrian coastline. The cottage is spacious and very well equipped, immaculately clean with every facility you could ask for. The generous basket of goodies included fresh eggs and local bacon and sausages along with breakfast basics and a bottle of wine! Also provided are all the cleaning products and detergents you might need and don't want to think about when you are packing your case. Being able to breakfast outside and watch the swallows swoop and rabbits, horses and chickens run free is delightful. Patricia gave us a warm welcome and is very friendly without being intrusive. The information pack in the cottage is comprehensive and the wealth of leaflets help you plan a variety of activities for your stay. If you stay 'home' the leather armchairs entice you to snuggle down with a good book. A perfect spot, would thoroughly recommend for anyone.

The cottage is in an outstanding location, with views all the way to the coast. The standard of the accommodation is fantastic - it is maintained so that it feels as if we were the first people to stay there. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful during our stay. The welcome breakfast basket particularly was extremely generous. I normally try to record some positive feedback in the visitors book when we stay at cottages, for the owners benefit. In this instance however, I really could not think of anything to suggest that would have improved our stay. We are already planning our next visit...

We really enjoyed our week at Tawny Nook. The owners live next door and were extremely welcoming & helpful without being intrusive. The standard of accommodation & cleanliness were very high and decor was tasteful and relaxing. We stayed with our 18 month old son who also enjoyed terrorising the sheep in the neighbouring fields. We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to be back at some point in the future.
