The Lavendrye is a quiet, secluded and private space for up to 4 people, situated in the beautiful Wealden countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Do you need an escape, or a pied a terre for visiting family or friends; a base from which to explore East Sussex, West Kent; to visit the opera at Bayham or Glyndebourne, the gardens at Great Dixter, Sissinghurst or any of the wide and rich variety of English Heritage or National Trust properties nearby? The Lavendrye is a converted laundry house attached to the old Miller's house at Bartley Mill. It is a one bedroomed, self-contained annexe with its own parking and private patio area, and access to a private garden (shared only with any other guests of the Farmhouse) overlooking the mill pond and farmland beyond. Mobile phone signal is patchy, depending on your provider. Wifi provided can support mobile wifi use if you have this function downloaded. Working from home: although we offer Wi-Fi and fibre broadband, this is a residential address so facilities for “working from home” are not guaranteed. Our Wi-Fi is supplied by a third-party and we do not always have 100% control over its functioning. If you need guaranteed Wi-Fi access and have lots of Zoom calls and meetings during your stay, you should ensure that you make arrangements for alternative office rental during the day. The Lavendrye is designed to be a holiday accommodation, not an office. COVID-19 UPDATE Any bookings which have to be cancelled as a result of either UK Government restrictions or guest illness due to COVID-19 will be rescheduled for free. If you wish to have a full refund, then please make sure that you have adequate travel insurance and your own travel insurance covers this. This is an alteration to our normal terms and conditions whilst the UK Government have COVID-19 restrictions in place. RISK MANAGEMENT When booking with us your stay will be protected by a Security Deposit Deposit Guarantee, Guest Guarantee and public liability protection provided by our risk management partner, SUPERHOG. Interaction with guestsAccess is via a coded key box and you will be sent the code 48 hours before you are due to arrive. This means you can check-in at any time and will not disturb anyone else. However, we are available 24/7 via WhatsApp and therefore if you have any issues at all, there is always someone available nearby to help. Lovely quiet breath of fresh air
We booked for two nights. This is a lovely space for a break. A quiet spot with a nice patio a sloping lawned area and all freshly decorated. Beds were comfy with lovely laundered linens. The bathroom is clean and modern with a great shower. The compact kitchen and good-sized fridge served us well for lunch and breakfast. We ate out for dinner at the Vineyard in Lamberhurst. Thanks for the stay.

About the neighbourhood
The property is located within 2 minutes' walk of a network of local footpaths and bridleways in the lovely Wealden countryside. There is farmland and woodland all around. We have a couple of vineyards nearby which can be visited by appointment. There are great local pubs - the Brecknock at Bells Yew Green, the Elephant's Head at Hook Green, the Vine in Cousley Wood, to name a few. Scotney Castle and Bayham Abbey ruins are the nearest National Trust and heritage properties but there are lots of other places to visit - Penshurst, Hever to name a few as well as Glyndebourne and Bayham (for opera), Trinity Theatre, and the gardens at Sissinghurst and Great Dixter. Schools nearby include Vinehall, Marlborough House, St Ronan's, Homewood House.
Getting around
The property is 2 minutes' drive from Frant train station, 8 minutes' drive from central Tunbridge Wells or from the A21. Trains are approximately 50 minutes to London Bridge, Cannon Street or London Charing Cross. There is also a bus service (the 256) which runs along the nearby B2169. We are located 40 minutes' drive from London Gatwick Airport.
