Casita de la Cascada - Comfortable 2 bedroom house

Holiday Rental House -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Valle Gran Rey, La Gomera, Canary Islands
Two bedroom family house with balcony, set in the quiet, rural village of Casa de la Seda. Perfectly positioned as a start point for numerous walks, while at the same time only 2.5km from the beach.

At the heart of Casa La Seda's eight houses is Casita de la Cascada, 25mins. walk (2.5km) from the beaches (buses pass five times daily) at the junction of the main road and the paths crossing the valley to the small church and the various hamlets on the opposite slopes. Thus, it is at the hub of all the walking trails and directly connected to the path that takes walkers along a wild stream-side path to the waterfall and pool above, reached via a 30 minute hike.

La Casita is a typical village house of the old style, bought in 1988 as a ruin and restored by a master carpenter, with a terracotta tiled roof, wooden floors and beamed ceili...

Very comfortable and well-equipped accommodation. Well located for the start of a number of walks - not least the adjacent waterfall trail. It was nice being a little out of town, but within easy reach. A pleasant gentle stroll down to Valle Gran Rey, but...More

About the neighbourhood
La Gomera, the second smallest of the Canary Islands is unique.  No region like Gomera's upland cloud-forests exists on earth. When the Spanish colonists cut down all the vast Canarian forests to feed sugar mills after they colonised the islands in the 16th century only La Gomera escaped, being then remote. For its uniqueness, it  was declared a World Heritage Park in 1986 (one of the very first) One can walk for miles through the heathers and laurel trees. The cloud forests feed the huge Valle Gran Rey with water; it is green, there is almost always sun but there is seldom rain.
The beaches are of black sand. Sometimes, in winter storms, the sand is washed away, but there is always sand on the port beach (with awesome cliffs above) and on the 'Baby Beach' (perfect for children...
