About the neighbourhood
Langcliffe is a peaceful, picturesque Dales village of stone cottages set around an expansive green, surrounded by craggy limestone fells. On the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, there are great walks and bike rides from the doorstep, yet you are within a mile of the amenities of Settle. Take a lovely, gentle walk along the River Ribble to the cafe at Knight Stainforth, hike 'over the tops' to Malham or do a section of the Pennine Bridleway. If you are feeling energetic you can tackle our local mountains (Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside) known at the Yorkshire 'Three Peaks' - the classic route starts at Horton, a little further up Ribblesdale. Malham with its famous cove (featured in Harry Potter), tarn, waterfall and
Getting around
Settle is less than 5 minute drive away, or a very pleasant 20 minute walk /short cycle along a back lane. Settle has a train station which connects to Skipton and Leeds as well as the famous, stunningly scenic Settle to Carlisle line. Nearby Giggleswick also has a train service to Lancaster and the coast at Morecambe. Settle also offers a bus service through local villages to Skipton, or in the other direction though local villages to Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale. You can easily take a bus one way to Long Preston, Austwick or Clapham and enjoy a great walk back through fields / tracks. We are just over an hour's drive from Leeds, Manchester, Lancaster and the Lake District. Please note that taxis are rare and need to be pre-booked.
