Dirty and smelly, great location though - book at your own risk!
The cottage is in a great location which is why we booked it. However, the photos on the internet don't show the reality. The cottage is dirty and unhygienic for human habitation. There is mould on sofa and walls. The downstairs, lounge, kitchen and dining stink. Kitchen appliances are filthy and kitchen floor greasy and slippery. Some appliances are dirty, rusted and stained beyond rescue. We couldn't stay even a night despite attempting to clean the fridge. We quickly realised it was just impossible to stay there. We were greatly inconvenienced, had to find any available accommodation for the night under panic as it was a busy summer Saturday. Then we had find alternative accommodation for our holiday in North Yorkshire. It is shocking that someone would offer the place for accommodation without any care for it. Surely, there needs to be minimum standards for what can be advertised as suitable holiday cottage.

Perfect location for walking the Yorkshire countryside
We booked this cottage to walk the Dales and Yorkshire Three Peaks. It is the perfect location for this with driving time minimised. The cottage is beautifully situated on the bank of the River Ribble and has a pond in the garden for alfresco eating or relaxing. Surprisingly spacious given the external appearance.

Great half term break
6 of us (2 adults and 4 boys aged 7 to 13) had a fantastic stay at riverside cottage. It was comfortable, very warm and cosy and the location was excellent. The kitchen was well resourced, beds were comfortable and plenty of towels provided. We enjoyed walks directly from the cottage and day trips to ingleton waterfalls trail, the Forbidden corner and brimham rocks. We would happily stay here again if we decide to revisit this area of the country.

An Idyllic cottage that's perfect for families!
An idyllic cottage that's situated beside the beautiful River Ribble is the perfect accommodation to relax and recuperate from normality. The cottage being beside the river oozed tranquility and wonderment, there is no other way to drink of cup of tea in the mornings. River cottage is more than equipped with everything you will need for a break away with family and friends. There were so much to see and do around Settle with many attraction being right on our door step. Places like Lime Kiln, Stainforth Force, Scaleber Waterfall as well Jubilee and Victoria Cave which are great for those who like to explore on foot. Settle has the great pubs, cafes and restaurants that are fantastic value for money, such as the Singing Kettle and Ye Old Naked Man. For little ones there is an amazing toys shop The House That Jack Built, it's a must do. We shall be back!

Highly recommendable
A well-equipped cottage in wonderful surroundings - easily accessable, but in an absolutely quiet position. Paradoxically, the constant noise of the river passing by on the kitchen side of the cottage only added to the quietude. We spent a wonderful week here and long to come back some day. Several riverside and/or mountain walking routes start just outside the door.

Charming old cottage but brought into the 21st century.
My sisters and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay in a lovely warm cottage. There was no scrimping with the heating although having 18" thick walls the cottage seemed to retain its heat. Everything in the kitchen was of a good quality. The bed I slept in was very comfortable and the others looked to be also. The furniture was nice and clean. Plenty of interesting places to visit or just to stay in and relax. Shops just a mile away Lovely patio and garden alongside the mill pond with a lovely walk around it. Was almost paradise.

Lovely Cottage
Secluded and quiet, just what you need to relax, great location for looking around and some gorgeous scenery. All in all we had a great time, Rashid was very helpful. House is lovely, enough room for us all, and wifi was great, couldn't get a mobile phone signal but that was fine by me :)

Good Cottage, but could so easily be great
Riverside Cottage is in a perfect location , next to the river Ribble, and just off the main road into Settle, although there's no traffic noise as the cottage is about 1/2 mile down a private road. Settle and Stainforth both 1.5 miles in opposite directions, both can be reached by footpaths, rather than a walk along the road. Don't be put off by reviews of the Craven Heifer in Stainforth, new landlord very welcoming and The Lion in Settle the food is excellent well worth the walk. The cottage itself is well decorated, with modern furnishings in the living and sleeping area, although the kitchen and dining area which both overlook the river, could do with a little modernising ,especially the dining area which has a little unloved feel about it. A table and chairs on the patio would be nice or at least a bench. The sitting area has a wonderful cosy open fire, although the chimney could do with a sweep as stated by previous guests in January, one. night we sat with the front door open to clear the smoke build up. Upstairs there are three bedrooms all a good size, although the TV in the main bedroom doesn't work ,again stated by another guest ,and a good sized family bathroom(although a leaky tap again previously mentioned has stained the bath). Does anyone read the comments book I wonder.... Despite its odd faults which could easily be remedied wouldn't hesitate to book the cottage again perfect for a relaxing week.in a peaceful location.

Neat, Beautiful Location
Stayed here with a mate as we hiked in the Yorkshire Dales for a few days. The cottage is neat and sits on the Ribble river, making it a great place to explore a bit locally as well. About 20 minutes by foot to the High St in Settle, which felt like a nice distance to work off the couple of pints consumed with dinner. The owners, Rashid and Arifa were very accommodating and helpful in getting us paid and set up, beyond what I would typically have expected normal. What I didn't know at the time of booking but came as a pleasant surprise (and they should update the profile to reflect this) was that wifi was available in the cottage. Something small perhaps, but it makes planning that much easier.

The walk is 4.5 miles through ancient oak woodland and magnificent Dales scenery via a series of spectacular waterfalls and geological features.White Scar Caves, now the largest show cave in the dales and one of the biggest in the country is beautifully lit, with gushing streams and waterfalls, exotic cave formations, and a huge ice-age cavern adorned with thousands of stalactites. For the serious caver, the limestone hills around Ingleton contain some of the most extensive and challenging potholing in the country.Popular walks and rambles include the ascent of two out of three of the area's famous Three Peaks – Penygent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Also well worth a visit are the limestone pavements above White Scar and Twistleton Scar, the latter providing excellent views of Ingleborough from across the valley of Chapel-le-Dale.Just 10 minutes out of Ingleton is the Settle to Carlisle railway line which takes you on a journey through the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, over the 24 arches of the Ribblehead Viaduct before plunging in to the longest tunnel on the line at Blea Moor. Emerging onto the side of Dentdale, the line leaves the Dales at Garsdale and makes it way through the gentle, lush rolling hills of the Eden Valley, with rural villages and market towns before arriving at the great border city of Carlisle. In Ingleton village itself there are several cafes, pubs and guest houses. There is also a very pleasant outdoor swimming pool (which is open during the summer months only).Ingleton makes an excellent base not only for exploring the northern Dales (including more the remote valleys such as Dentdale), but also the Lake District and Sedbergh and the Howgill Fells to the north and north west.
