Riverside Cottage is nestled on the edge of a forest ravine in Thornthwaite. Newly renovated, it is light and airy throughout with Velux windows on the upper floors. There are two bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs whilst the ground floor offers a pleasant sitting room with a wood burner and a super modern kitchen, both with patio doors opening to the large veranda overlooking the forest ravine and tumbling beck. The Veranda along the back of the house is accessed via patio doors from both the kitchen and the sitting room. A well positioned table and chairs offers a great vantage point for an enjoyable alfresco meal or refreshing glass of wine. A lovely terraced garden leads down to the river where you could enjoy a BBQ on those hot summer days, maybe partake in a little sunbathing ...Riverside Cottage is nestled on the edge of a forest ravine in Thornthwaite. We have just returned from our great stay at the cottage, it’s in a great location with good outside space. There is also ample seating outside as well. The cottage was very clean and tidy, we would definitely recommend a stay here and we will be returning. :)

Perfect location with a beautiful walk through Whinlatter Forest on the doorstep. Keswick was easily accessible, with The Dog & Gun Pub well worth visiting. The cottage was perfect for myself and my partner to relax for the week, with a beautiful wood-burning stove and the most idyllic ravine falling behind the house. Wildlife is thriving with red squirrels and birds. We were treated to seeing two treecreepers from the lounge window. Well recommended for a romantic trip for two! Thanks to the owners for keeping this cottage clean, tidy and homely.

My husband and I spent a week in this idyllic cottage. It is actually two bedrooms (twin bedded room on the third floor) but we found it perfect for the two of us. It was immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard - the perfect mix of modern and traditional cottage decor. It is ideal for any weather - the log fire for colder days and the wonderful outdoor terrace for warm weather. We spent lots of time sitting out admiring the view of Skiddaw and listening to the calming sound of the river. We were able to walk to Braithwaite (Royal Oak pub is recommended - see review - as is the village shop). We also walked to Whinlatter Forest Visitor Centre and to the charming Thornthwaite Church. The cottage is fitted with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. We would definitely stay again. Two points to note - no dogs allowed and the cottage is reached by a steep hill via a narrow lane. No problem for us but just worth mentioning.

Stayed at Riverside Cottage in March 2018 and we were lucky enough to have a long weekend of glorious sunshine! The cottage was cosy, comfortable, well situated and well appointed with everything you need including logs for the all-important wood burner. The location really is perfect; on the edge of Whinlatter Forest and a short walk from the pubs and shop in Braithwaite. The Northern and Western lakes and fells are on your doorstep including Skiddaw, Coledale Round and the wonderful Buttermere. If you desire, the excellent market town of Keswick is a short drive or bus ride away and has loads to do including the wold famous Pencil Museum, a brewery, restaurants and LOADS of pubs. Gemma and Tom are excellent hosts, we cannot recommend this cottage enough!

The location of this cottage is really beautiful, stream and mountains to one side, mountain forrest to the other. Lovely local walks and pubs. I would recommend staying here. There is a stream through the back garden. The cottage is lovely and very well equipped.

The Cottage is perfectly located in a lovely little Lakeland village which is easy to find just off the A66 near Whinlatter Forest. In fact you can walk into the forest along a track at the end of the road just 5 minutes from the house. There is a beck and forest at the rear of the property which makes it very private and idyllic. There is plenty of off road parking for 2 cars. The cottage itself is quaint but with all the mod cons. There is a fantastic kitchen with dishwasher (essential holiday appliance to avoid washing up!!!) and lots of pans etc to make cooking easy if you fancy staying in. There is also a beautiful log burner in the lounge which makes it cosy. Wood, firelighters and matches are provided so you can get the fire up and running in no time. There is a gorgeous balcony from the lounge and kitchen over looking the beck and forest. There are 2 bedrooms which are both a good size. The bathroom is also a good size. Would definitely recommend this Cottage.
