Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: Set round its natural harbour on the stunning and tranquil Isle of Skye, charming Portree boasts an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants. Cultural attractions are plentiful; the Aros Centre is well worth a visit with its programme of concerts, theatre and cinema. Sports enthusiasts are also well catered for, with sea kayaking, rock-climbing and a good choice of well-marked walks. The rock formations are particularly spectacular; Trotternish Ridge stretches for 31km of continuous cliffs, with many fantastic rock forms and pinnacles. Dunvegan Castle and the Talisker Distillery Visitor Centre are just two more reasons to visit this magical isle.
We stayed here recently with our baby and dog and had a perfect getaway. The weather was beautiful which added to it! The location is on the stunning loch and perfectly situated to visit the fairy glen, fairy pools, Portree, quirang etc we loved the decor and wanted the settee and living room furniture in our home! The log burner was perfect to cosy up after a day exploring in the cold. We also loved the welcome pack given. Everything has been furnished to a high standard. We would recommend here to anyone and will return with other family members in the future!

A perfect home by the Loch
The Hollows was a delight, from the moment we arrived to the sad final moment we shut the door to our cosy holiday home.
We came to Skye on public transport. This presented us with plenty of challenges but overall we found the location as good as any for picking up local buses to Portree or around the North of the island.
The location is beautiful. The Loch was on our doorstep and provided us with constant entertainment as we watched waders prowl, the light changing on the water and the weather and tide coming in. We also gazed out looking for the elusive otters!
We came with our dog, we were all made to feel cosy and welcome with a generous and much appreciated welcome pack, dog biscuits aplenty, lots of appliances and clear, friendly instructions inviting us to become familiar with everything and to help us to get settled in.
There were plenty of evening walks to be enjoyed on the bank of Loch Eyre, or striding our across the water at low tide, exploring.
After rainy days out on Skye the front room, with its large and cosy sofa and wood burning stove, revived us and gave us many opportunities to relax and let time drift by.
The facilities were all spotless, the bath roomy, the bedrooms homely. The owners know what guests need, what makes a stay special, they do a flawless job of setting a perfect scene for a holiday.
I recommend this cottage highly. It felt like I’d made a new home. I hope one day we can return to enjoy more days searching for otters, and watching the sun set across the water.
