Set 5 mins walk from the pristine waters of Lake Tarawera, just 20 mins from Rotorua, The Cheeky Tui is a fully self contained log house in a garden setting. We even provide a couple of Kayaks and bikes to enable you to fully enjoy the beautiful lake and surroundings. The accommodation features 3 bedrooms, sleeping up to 7 people. There are 3 bedrooms; one with a double bed, a twin room & one with a set of bunks and a single. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave oven etc. The dining room opens onto a cobblestoned courtyard with an outdoor eating area with a bbq & brazier. There is also a kent fire & heat pump for winter so is lovely & warm. Located next to a reserve (which has a new playground) & close to boat ramp and a good swimming beach, this is the perfect location for your next family holiday. Well behaved & house-trained dogs are welcome and there is even room for a boat! The 4 bedroom, Fidgety Fantail holiday cottage,(also owned by us) is located next door making it perfect for 2 families or friends to rent one each. The house is in a scenic area and is well set up, except for lacking a clothes dryer. The difficulty is the lack of access to shopping, an hour round trip on a very winding road, which combined with no mobile phone reception can feel...More

This place is home away from home, comfortable beds and sofa, BBQ and dishwasher, all very clean, ideal for complete relaxation. would recommend to anyone. we will return.

Surrounded by native bush, forrest and wildlife, the pristine lake environment of Tarawera is great for trout fishing, swimming, watersports, bush walks and generally just relaxing. The house is 20 Minutes from the thermal wonderland of Rotorua with it's extreme sports, New Zealand cultural experiences, shopping and thermal activity. Tragedy shaped this remarkably beautiful lake into the broad, branching lake it is today. The 1886 Tarawera eruption raised the lake by 12 meters, drowning a small valley between lava flows. A very interesting visitors attraction, Te Wairoa or the Buried Village, lies close by the southwest shore.
