Lovingly restored by ourselves to its former glory and carefully decorated with attention to detail, creating an atmosphere of gracious charm and tranquillity. Locally you'll discover any number of quaint fishing villages and gorgeous sandy beaches, free of crowds. We are a family of three and originally from Cheshire, England. We're always happy to offer help and advice during your stay whilst, at the same time, respecting your privacy. El Puente forms part of a heritage site in the town of Puente Viesgo, just 28 km from Santander and close to the Pas towns of Santillana del Mar and Carbárceno. It lies in a beautiful nature spot close to the river Pas and the prehistoric caves of Puente Viesgo. Mount 'El Castillo' in Puente Viesgo is the location of the most significant Palaeolithic heritage site in Europe. Things to see: The spectacular Picos de Europa (Peaks of Europe) mountain range, to the south west of us, is one of the best places in Spain for hiking, climbing and various other outdoor pursuits. A modern interpretation centre provides an enjoyable and educational insight into prehistory. The park is home to more than 500 species including elephants, leopards, bears and lions. Cycling In Cantabria: Whatever your level, beginner or expert, Cantabria offers a wide range of either on-road or off-road cycling. For those in search of steep trails and wild off-road routes the Picos de Europa mountain range is only an hour away. Local to us you will find traffic free trails suitable for all ages and abilities. The area is perfect for Hiking. Bicycles available free of charge. Really enjoyed our holiday. Loved the variety about the place, sea, mountains and lastly the lake. We rented the whole cottage as we liked the idea of putting the kids in the separate studio apartment...Peace! The cottage itself was perfect, just like in the photos...More
