Joiners Cottage, Ashford in the Water

Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Ashford-in-the-Water, Bakewell, Peak District National Park, England
Joiners Cottage is a cosy 300 year old stone built cottage situated a hundred yards away from the River Wye in this delightful village. Joiners Cottage is full of character and has been lovingly renovated to maintain the character but we have added some 21st century luxury including a log burning stove for those cosy nights in!

Ashford in the Water is a picturesque riverside village that nestles mainly on the east bank of the meandering River Wye as it winds its way slowly south-eastward towards the town of Bakewell, a couple of miles downstream. The famous and much photographed medieval Sheep wash Bridge is the site of the original `ford by the ash trees’ from which the village takes it’s name and one of several ancient bridges which span the river here. The village has 2 pubs, The Ashford Arms Hotel and the Bull’s Head. The corner sh...

About the neighbourhood
Ashford in the Water is a picturesque riverside village that nestles mainly on the east bank of the meandering River Wye as it winds its way slowly south-eastward towards the town of Bakewell, a couple of miles downstream.

A holiday or short break will allow you to explore some of England’s most spectacular scenery; fascinating historical and cultural heritage; and in the towns, villages and hamlets – amongst the prettiest in the country – you will find a warm and genuine welcome wherever you go. The rolling hills, vast moorland and gritstone crags of the Peak District make for a dramatic and varied landscape. Not surprisingly it is a Mecca for walkers, climbers and cyclists looking for peace, tranquility and adventure.
Getting around
We have had a number of guests who have stayed at the cottage without a car and got around on public transport happily. However to get to the more remote parts of the Peak District an car - or bicycle for keen cyclists - is recommended
