On the atlantic coast of Canada you’ll find quaint, charming Prince Edward Island. Made famous at the turn of the century by L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables novels, the island has drawn lovers of books, nature, and history for more than a hundred years. If you want to “escape from it all” head to PEI since it has remained largely untouched and bucolic since its inception. A cottage or converted farmhouse would be an excellent choice for a place to stay in PEI, and on TripAdvisor we have over 200 rentals available.
Prince Edward Island National Park winds along the coast and is also a wonderful place to go bird watching, wildlife spotting, and camping. Whale watching is a popular activity and you can see grey whales, dolphins, and more sea mammals just off the coast. There are more than 25 golf courses on the island, all within 45 minutes of each other. Bikes are extremely popular on PEI, and biking the Cavendish Trail is almost a rite of passage. Charlottetown has plenty of stops to make like Confederation Center of the Arts, St. Dunstan’s Basilica, and the beautiful Victoria Park and shopping at Victoria Row. Cavendish Beach and Brackley Beach are both strong choices for your day lounging in the sun and in the sea.
Being so close to the Atlantic Ocean, PEI culinary scene is all about seafood. The #1 rated restaurant in PEI on TripAdvisor is Point Prim Chowder House & Oyster Bar, with good reason. A gem of a spot with incredible bay views, Point Prim Chowder House is rustic, genuine, and delicious. Another chowder house ranks highly, this one with a more urban location called Claddagh Oyster House, but just as inventive and succulent. The Blue Mussel is another award-winning seafood joint in PEI. You can’t leave Canada without trying poutine, french fries covered in cheese curds and gravy, and the best place to grab some on PEI would be the Chip Shack in Charlottetown.
Book a vacation rental on PEI for your next vacation and you’ll be thrilled with how you won’t have to sacrifice space, privacy, or amenities like you would at a hotel. Normally, rentals are priced lower than a night at a hotel, too. Some PEI cottages will have a pool, in home laundry, full eat in kitchen, multiple bedrooms and some may even be pet-friendly. You’ll have the ability to live like a local, while exploring this tranquil, beautiful Canadian tourist destination. Most of the beach houses are secluded yet close to the town amenities. Some are close to the top Golf Courses in Prince Edward Island, Crowbush, Brudenell and Dundarave.
