My husband and I enjoy the kind of travel that get us off the beaten tourist track, to find out what it would be like to be a local resident. We like history and nature. We enjoy camping, in tents or in our pop-up RV. We prefer small hotels or B&Bs with character and charm. We like meeting interesting people and exploring cities, but we also enjoy being on our own in places of solitude. A good vacation is one with new experiences, and memorable adventures.
We have bicycled across Oklahoma on FreeWheel, with 2,000 other cyclists. We traveled with a group across Mexico by bus & train, to see a total solar eclipse. I went to China with a group to compete in a martial arts tournament in Oct. 2000. We get along, but would rather travel on our own.
We often include geocaching, choosing a few caches that look like they will take us to places that we might not otherwise find out about. We have now found geocaches in 49 of the 50 U.S. states, and in Mexico, and 5 Canadian provinces.
