Since Apr. 2007

65+ year old male

Wallsend, United Kingdom

We used to do motoring holidays in Europe, particularly France but now we are older and prices are so much higher in the Euro-zone we have virtually given up this in favour of cruising and escorted holidays (not cheap coach tours). I am not sure that cruising is really our thing now. The port visits are ephemeral, ships life too tame and entertainment too loud and glitzy without having any real talent. Our favourite cruise ship so far is Holland America Prinsendam. Popular though Fred Olsen is, we found that to be more like a geriatric Butlins. (We could have gone to a Warner hotel for the same dull experience without leaving dry land). Our favourite holiday has been a Titan escorted tour of New Zealand which we repeated in 2014 on a different itinerary. All in all I think that escorted tours by coach, rail and plane have been our best experiences. Despite loving travel - getting home is even better.
